Rebuilding Together of Washington, DC (formerly Christmas in April) is celebrating the 25th anniversary of providing free home repairs for low-income elderly, disabled homeowners, and families with children.

We have rehabbed over 2,500 homes in the last 25 years with the help of tens of thousands of volunteers, but still we remain homeless. We want to celebrate our 25th anniversary by raising the necessary funds to purchase a permanent building and warehouse. We are currently renting space and have had to move six times in the last few years. These moves are distracting; they take up our time and more importantly they hurt our efforts to help the needy and vulnerable homeowners we serve. We can not allow this to continue - we need a home of our own.

The purchase of a building would allow us to expand our warehouse of donated materials. Every year we save thousands of dollars by taking donated paint and other building materials. However, our current storage space is located in the garages of the Executive Director and a Board Member, and our limited capacity is full. We turn down donations of stoves, washer and dryers, and other large and expensive appliances daily, knowing we will have to buy them a week later. A building would enable us to have a real warehouse - our own hardware store filled with all the materials our volunteers need to make the repairs. The increase in donations would allow us to work on even more homes in the neediest parts of DC for the neediest homeowners.

Please, in honor of our 25th Anniversary we are asking for donations for our Capital Campaign. Click here to donate now.
